mr.mac: Rise of the Papacy

Defend each of these positions:
1.  Jesus Christ established the papacy with the Apostle Peter; and the Bishop of Rome as Peter's successor bears the supreme authority over the whole church.
2.  History indicates that the establishment of the papacy was established by slow and painful process.  Pope Leo (440-461 CE) provided for the first time the biblical and theological bases of the papal claim.

i think the disciples were also very important because they were a big part in the entire time of Jesus. i think it is a little bit strange that the first pope was nominated 450 years after peter.    Many people have disagreed on that. i think it depends on the person and catholic superiors to think on what should be best to say.

I think that the most important person in the bible is Jesus.
i think that because he God's son and also because he died for us!
and probably if he hadn't died for us i wouldn't be writing this.
i think that the first one is right. i think that there were popes
after Peter. i think this because probably everyone wanted that
place in church and they kept the tradition that was started.
i think that since then there has been popes in the catholic
church!

Chapter 13

I think that yes Jesus can be considered the first form of papacy, because he was the head of the church once, and everyone followed his believes so for me Jesus can definetly be consider the first pope. Crowds would get together to listen to Jesus and his teachings. Most people would obey his commands jut like a modern pope. The only difference is that a pope has other bishops that obey him. And Jesus had the apostles, but they were more like followers than workers.
