From person to person we have gone seeing how they have influenced Christianity. We saw the break in christianity of the Roman orthodox church and the Eastern orthodox church. Also we saw how the papacy started having political influence in the Roman empire and so on.

3rd quarter so far. Catia
Some characters we have studied are Pope Leo, Charlemagne, Gregory, Benedict, Gregory the Great, and Augustine. All these characters have been involved in church history. Gregory and Leo were popes. Others like Benedict and Augustine are saints. Both of them also instituted monk orders like the Benedictine monks and the Augustinian monks. Some of this characters have peculiar stories behind them. For example Gregory did not want to be pope. He was a monk and therefore had to be obedient and accepted the charge but he did not want to. In fact when he was told that he would be pope he ran and hid in a forest and would not come out. Saint Augustine on the other hand struggled with sexual sins. He had many wives and children. He once prayed to God for God to help him change, but later, not then. Augustine is a special person I think because of all the people we have studied he is the one I can most sympathize with. He was more of a normal person and had the normal temptations all of us have. Some of this persons are so righteous and always follow the Christian pathway but Augustine struggled a lot with many things just like any human being. Although the popes were a religious figure I can see a lot of political influence in their job. We can see this when for example Pope Leo was sent to settle down some issues when the Vandals came to invade Rome. Pope Leo was also sent to make peace when Atila the Hut when he as well came to invade Rome.
