Tuesday through Friday
Homework and Class Work for this week:
Research the Church in the first two centuries:
What was worship like?
PROJECT:  Recreate a Christian Worship Service in Rome in the year 150 C.E.
  • Was there a liturgy, similar to use in Catholic, Orthodox, Anglican, and Lutheran Churches today?
  • Or, was worship informal, similar to present day evangelical and pentecostal traditions?
  • What day, of days, did they worship? Sunday or Saturday?
  • Or, was worship both liturgical and pentecostal?
  • Or, was worship different in different cultures?
Where did Christians worship?  Church buildings, homes, caves, public buildings, public spaces (city parks or squares, the beach, the forest, etc.)
What were Church buildings like?
What did people wear?
Did the clergy wear vestments at this time?
Was there one language in all Churches (such as Latin or Greek) or was worship in the language of the people.
