introduction by catia
pope Boniface proclaimed a free year kinda like that in 1300 this was like really weird i think. he did this although to celebrate the centenary of the birth of Jesus. This was probably a really big deal to Christians so it obviously had to have something as important as a whole year of celebration. After Boniface did this many popes followed him and did the same thing. So cliche i think they just wanted to have some free time like we all do i think. Boniface for doing what he did of proclaiming a whole year of a holiday he was seen as the father of the "holy years". Although at this time popes were very respected precisely like at Bonifaces time popes starting loosing their god granted power which was overated i think at this time. people started questioning them and not following them like if they were god.
